Unlocking the potential of capsaicin in oral health (Review)

Capsaicin, the spicy compound from Capsicum annuum L., shows potential benefits in oral health. Research highlights its analgesic effects in conditions like oral neuropathic pain, mucositis, TMJ disorders, and burning mouth syndrome. It also shows anticancer and antimicrobial activity against oral pathogens. However, more human studies are needed to determine safe dosages, clarify mechanisms, and explore effects on nonpathogenic microbes.
