This study estimated the age at death of Pawon Man using two methods: 3D pulp volume analysis from CBCT scans and DNA methylation of the ELOVL2 gene. CBCT-based ages were 30.7 and 17.0 years, while DNA methylation gave 34.6 and 17.8 years, showing notable differences between methods. The study highlights the variability in age estimation techniques and suggests combining multiple approaches to improve accuracy and consistency in analyzing ancient human remains.
