Green Dentistry in Oral Cancer Treatment Using Biosynthesis Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles: A Systematic Review

This systematic review explores the potential of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs), synthesized from agricultural waste like lignin, as a green and effective treatment for oral cancer. SPIONs offer drug delivery and hyperthermia capabilities, showing good effectiveness, biocompatibility, and reduced side effects. Findings support their promise as a sustainable approach in oral cancer therapy while […]

Isolation of Thermophilic Bacteria Geobacillus subterraneus From Mount Tangkuban Perahu and the Novelty as a Candidate for Streptococcus mutans Anti-Biofilm

Thermophilic bacteria Geobacillus subterraneus, isolated from Mount Tangkuban Perahu, produced antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) with antibacterial and anti-biofilm effects against Streptococcus mutans. These AMPs, belonging to the lanthipeptide/bacteriocin-I group, inhibited biofilm growth by up to 28%, suggesting potential as a novel anti-biofilm agent for oral health. A Systematic Review of Research on Guided Access Cavity Preparation Endodontic Treatment Dentin Preservation Perspectives

This scoping review analyzed 12 recent studies on guided access cavity preparation (GACP) in endodontics. Findings show that GACP, using static or dynamic guides, improves dentin preservation, accuracy, and predictability, especially for complex root canal cases. However, clinicians should carefully consider its limitations and clinical applications before use. Alginate Impression Material Reinforcement Using Polymethyl Methacrylate as Organic Filler

This study tested alginate mixed with PMMA fillers to improve tear strength. Results showed that adding 3–7% PMMA significantly increased tear strength compared to control, with the best result at 5%. PMMA enhances alginate’s durability and impression accuracy, though further studies on biocompatibility are needed. Clinical Activity of Behcet’s Disease Associated with SARS-CoV-2 and Herpes Simplex Virus: Insights from Three Case Reports

This report compared three Behçet’s Disease (BD) cases triggered by HSV-1 and SARS-CoV-2. All patients showed oral, genital, and skin lesions. The COVID-19-positive patient had a lower disease activity score than the HSV-1 patients, likely because HSV-1 reactivation caused longer, more severe symptoms. All cases improved with combined therapy. Residential Environment and Parental Lifestyle as Risk Factors of The Co-Occurrence of Cleft Lip and Palate Birth Defect Cases in Indonesia

This Indonesian case-control study found that environmental and parental lifestyle factors influence cleft lip and palate (CLP) risk. Good kitchen ventilation and treated drinking water were protective, while proximity to industrial sites and paternal passive smoking increased risk. Maternal active smoking appeared marginally protective, and paternal radiation exposure was linked to higher CLP risk. The

Impact of Intermittent Hypobaric Hypoxia on HIF-1α and VEGF Expression for Mandibular Bone Osteogenesis: A Scoping Review

This scoping review found that Intermittent Hypobaric Hypoxia (IHH) therapy increases HIF-1α and VEGF expression, which enhances angiogenesis and osteogenesis in the mandibular bone. Evidence suggests IHH may support bone healing and regeneration. Facile synthesis of vaterite fine powder CaCO3 from padalarang natural limestone with pH modifying via fine-bubble carbonation

This study synthesized calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) from natural limestone in Padalarang, Indonesia, focusing on producing the vaterite form for biomedical applications. Using a fine-bubble carbonation method with varying HCl concentrations, the highest vaterite content (93%) was achieved at 0.04 M HCl. Characterization showed spherical vaterite particles, confirmed by XRD, SEM, FTIR, and particle size analysis, with

Description of Saliva Cortisol Levels In Indonesia Navy Soldiers Before and after Using Virtual Reality Dental Hypnosis Tool

This study examined the effect of virtual reality dental hypnosis (VRDH) on dental anxiety in Indonesian military personnel by measuring salivary cortisol levels. Using a single-blind randomized controlled trial with 22 participants, most individuals in both intervention and control groups showed decreased cortisol levels after the intervention. The intervention group, however, showed a wider range

Age Estimation of Pawon Man from Pulp Volume using Cone Beam Computed Tomography 3D Method and Dental DNA Methylation on ELOVL2 Gene

This study estimated the age at death of Pawon Man using two methods: 3D pulp volume analysis from CBCT scans and DNA methylation of the ELOVL2 gene. CBCT-based ages were 30.7 and 17.0 years, while DNA methylation gave 34.6 and 17.8 years, showing notable differences between methods. The study highlights the variability in age estimation
